A day of Safari, Cosmo, and Sun!

Today, my lovely OH treated me to a trip to Knowsley Safari Park as the weather was so nice, and also because he's injured his foot which means he can't really walk far.

The weather today was absolutely glorious, according to the thermometer in the car it got up to 27.5 in the park, and 26 in Liverpool itself!

So we got there about 12 and wandered around looking for an ice cream shop - to no avail. Apparently Knowsley don't let you eat ice cream before twelve! So we bought some drinks and went back to the car to start the drive.
When you go in they give you a handbook with a tour CD telling you all about the animals as you go around - to be honest, this was a bit crap. It sounded like a boring radio station that was on in the background, but the handbook was good. I spent most of the drive taking pictures and reading from the book to my OH.

We got round in about an hour - the usual time it takes - but on the way we forgot to close the windows in the lion enclosure, forgot to take the aerial off before we went in the baboon enclosure, and then my OH thought it'd be funny to open the window when there was an ostrich about two inches from the car. I was slightly hysterical and screamed at him to close the window because each time I tried to he opened it again with the switch on his side. The poor ostrich must have been so confused!

After the drive we went to watch the sea lion show which was really good, two sea lions Biffo and Reggie performed various tricks like balancing foot balls on their noses, clapping, diving etc. Reggie was 1 and Biffo was 14 and it was so cute watching Reggie try and copy Biffo!

We wandered around for a little bit, and I saw the axolotls which I was made up with - I love them! - but then my OH's foot started hurting so we went back to the car.

So then he dropped me off home so he could go to bed and sleep before work tonight and I relaxed in an empty house all day - dad was in Yorkshire and mum was in town. I went into the back garden and caught some sun then watched trash tv inside when I got too hot.

Overall, a very productive day!
